Color laser jet printer and color ink jet printer are two types of color printers that are very famous on the market now-day. There are some similarities and also some differences between the two types of color printers. Then what are the similarities and also the differences between color laser jet printer and color ink jet printer?
Of course as we known that both of them are the printing tools, which can print documents on paper. Both of color laser jet printers and color ink jet printer can print both color documents and also black-and-white documents. This is one of the similarities between of them. Then what are the differences? Okay, below I will explain a few points that differentiate between the color laser jet printer and the color ink jet printer.
The first point is the speed of printing. Usually a color laser jet printer is able to print faster than color ink jet printer. The color laser jet printer can print out a page in several second. While a printer color ink jet can finish printing a page in about a minute. The laser jet printer usually can print about 20 pages per minute (20 ppm) or more. The color laser jet printer also can print more pages per month (usually more than ten thousands pages per month).
The second is the cartridge that used. A color laser jet printer uses laser toner cartridges to make it works, while a color ink jet printer uses inkjet cartridges. The laser toner cartridges contain ink powder (toner), while inkjet cartridges contain liquid ink. The laser toner cartridge is much larger than the inkjet cartridge, and last much longer. The laser toner which is used in color laser jet printer can be used for printing a large quantity of pages (usually more than 2,000 pages) per cartridge, while the inkjet cartridge usually can be used for printing just several hundreds of pages per cartridge.
The third is the price of the printer. The color laser jet printer usually more expensive if compared with color ink jet printer. It looks more expensive in the beginning. However for long run, using color laser jet printer will make the printing cost cheaper than using the printer color ink jet, because the cost per page of printing is cheaper as well.
Then the next point is the printing quality. By using color laser jet printer usually results better printing quality. Resolution of print will determine good or poor of print quality. The higher resolution is the better print quality, the more clear and detailed. Laser printers generally have a higher resolution than inkjet printers. In addition the print result of color laser jet printer will last longer than inkjet printer’s result. Also the laser printer result is not easy to fade.
The next point is the total cost of printing. By using color laser jet printer the total cost of printing will be cheaper, because the cost per page of printing is cheaper too. For example, the price of a laser toner cartridge is about USD50, which can print about 4,000 pages. So the cost per page of printing is about 1.25 or 1.5 cent. However an ink cartridge price is about USD20 that can print about 300 pages. So the cost per page of printing is about 5 cent. This is applicable for whoever that performs a large quantity of printing.
